Cancer Scare

So I know it's been forever since I posted last. I guess you could say I've had A LOT going on. First of all, we finally got in to our new house. YAY!!! We absolutely LOVE IT!!! Then Christmas came right along so with trying to get settled and ready for christmas while being pregnant, I felt so overwhelmed. But then on top of all that I got some scary news right before Christmas. My doctor found a lump in my breast that was pretty big. He was hoping it was just a cyst so I went in a few days later so he could drain it. Needless to say, nothing came out. He got a very worried look on his face and decided it was definitely a solid mass. He sent me to a specialist who right away said it needed to come out immediately. He wasn't sure if it had already started developing cancer in it yet or not, but I guess with all the crazy hormones I had in my body from being pregnant it would become cancerous very fast if it hadn't already. I was scared out of my mind!!!! Up until a couple of nights before my surgery I hadn't told anyone but our parents. But by then I was completely freaking out, so worried about what would happen to the baby if it was cancerous and what kind of treatments I would have to go through. Jared and I decided that I could really use all the prayers and support I could get so we told our families and bishopric. I had the tumor removed last Monday and found out the results of the biopsy on Wednesday. I feel so incredibly blessed to say that although the "Phyllode" tumor was malignant, it hadn't spread to any of the surrounding tissue. I am so grateful for all the thoughts and prayers from everyone that knew. I honestly can say that I could feel Heavenly Father blessing me and comforting me through your prayers. So other than the fact that I'm missing a good part of my left boob now, I'm completely fine and thankfully the baby is healthy and doing well too.

wow. you sure have had a lot of "things" going on in your life lately. that is horrible for anyone to have to go through what you have gone through. glad that you went in right away and got things taken care of. do you do self breast exams? kind of scary to think about. maybe all of us girlies need to start doing them. you never think it's going to be you... hope you are doing better, and that little baby maxfield is hangin in there.

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry you had to go through that! That's so scary, I can't even imagine. My mom had cancer at a really young age, so my Dr's are keeping a good eye on me. I had all sorts of tests done before we decided to get pregnant. Luckily, I'm doing ok so far...but the scare is always there! I'm so glad to hear you're doing well, we can't wait to hear more baby news!

We are so happy to hear that it was benign. Although you are missing your left boob you are safe, that is what is important! You can always just buy boobs. That is what I did! You are so cute and I am so excited to see that little man in your tummy! We need to hang out soon! I will get something going! Miss you guys!
